8 Anime Quotes That Speak To Me (Via QuoteTheAnime)

Anime isn’t just about beautiful artwork: it’s full of life lessons, relatable characters, and helpful advice. The number of motivational anime moments is immeasurable, so it’s impossible to document them all. However, the guys running QuoteTheAnime have done a great job of cataloging many of them.

Sakura Clapping

If you aren’t familiar, QuoteTheAnime is a blog that creates images or wallpapers with different quotes from various anime. It’s a really cool idea! They also have social media accounts, like Instagram and Twitter.

This post is some what of a collaboration. I’m going to use quotes from QuoteTheAnime’s site and explain what they mean to me. A big thanks to them for letting me do this! 🙂

Oh, and as a side note, these are in no particular order, and things might get a teeny bit personal.

#1 – Via Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer quotes

First off, I relate to Zenitsu a lot. His overly panicky personality is exaggerated, but I feel his pain since I’m a very nervous person IRL.

Anyway, I like this quote because in my experience, society pressures everyone to be “the best” at everything. You need to get the best grades, the best job, etc. to “get ahead.” We are always comparing ourselves to others. However, many of us have a one-of-a-kind talent that no one else has. People should take pride in their talent, even if it’s “useless” to other people, like… juggling or something. For me, my special talent is writing, and I’m always trying to hone it.

If you can master that one special gift, it’s cause for celebration, like Zenitsu said. Even if it’s something small, you should give yourself credit. Just don’t get too cocky 😛

#2 – Via Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon Quotes

Ah, Usagi. Even though she’s a scatterbrain, she often provides words of wisdom. This quote is simple but true. When bad things happen, many people have the tendency to ask themselves, “Why did this happen to me?” In my opinion, the answer is because… the bad times give us some perspective.

For example, I would not appreciate my current writing job if I hadn’t been through so many terrible positions. Even when things get very stressful, I always tell myself, “At least I’m not stuck at that horrendous teaching job anymore.” The same goes for my anxiety. I’m still anxious on daily basis, but it’s nothing compared to when I was younger.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our current lives that we forget about the past. But the bad times can be a reminder of how great we have it right now. Thanks, Usagi~

#3 – Via Attack On Titan

Attack on Titan Quotes

My son Armin is so wise ❤ In this quote, Armin is referring to giant, human-eating Titans, but this quote can be applied to so many different things.

I personally thought of LGBTQ when I heard this quote. While things have gotten better over the last few years, there is still a lot of homophobia, transphobia, and other kinds of discrimination out there. When people don’t understand something, it scares them and, in turn, makes them lash out. It’s happened to me multiple times when I came out to others.

Again, this can really be applied to anything, from political matters to everyday concerns like getting lost in a gargantuan Walmart. It’s okay to be scared or uncomfortable at first when you’re exposed to something you’re unfamiliar with. People just need to learn to be open-minded and to not take out their insecurities on those around them.

#4 – Via Pokemon

Pokemon Quotes

This quote has stuck with me for years, ever since I saw the first Pokemon movie in theaters. I had to be, like, 8 years old at the time, but Meowth’s words still resonated with me.

We are all human, and we all live on the same planet. I wish we could put our differences aside and all get along without constantly fighting. Yes, people will always have varying opinions – that will never change. But we should all learn to get along without jumping down each other’s throats.

I think this quote is more important than ever, especially with how things have been in the US for the past couple of years. And with all of the toxic fights I’ve seen on Twitter. Everyone, listen to Meowth!

#5 – Via Inuyasha

Inuyasha Quotes

I love Inuyasha – it has a special place in my heart. And Kikyou was one of my first waifus. She is a blessing, and her words are like precious gems.

*cough* Moving on… This quote is very accurate. I’ll use my writing career as an example. Getting to where I am now was anything but a straight line. Although I knew I wanted to be a writer, I took a detour for a while and tried teaching. That did not work. At all. Then I freelanced full time until I found my current job. Although I really like my job, it’s not my final goal – just one part of a long journey.

Life has all kinds of twists and turns. If you ever feel stuck or like you’re on the wrong path, just remember Kikyou’s words. It doesn’t just have to be regarding your career. It can be anything.

#6 = Via New Game

New Game Quotes

My opinion of New Game has changed drastically over time. At first, I was incredulous about it, but I’ve come to really appreciate this series. Ko is a great boss (most of the time), and she’s correct in this quote.

There are times when writing can get very frustrating. Like this blog! Sometimes I’m so burnt out from my job or everyday life that when I go to work on a blog post… my brain won’t function. It’s discouraging, and I end up delaying my posts. I get really frustrated about it sometimes.

However, just because I take my sweet, sweet time with blog posts, it doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying myself. I put a lot of effort into each and every piece I write. I love this blog. And I’d like to think that my passion and hard work comes through in the final product! Even if I do post sporadically ^_^;

#7 = Via Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul Quotes

This quote is little different from the others, and it’s certainly not motivational… I like it, though.

I’m super behind on Tokyo Ghoul, so I’m not really sure what Kaneki is referring to in this moment. But it made my think of my own obsession with gloomy things. I might love cutesy stuff, but I’m also fascinated with darkness. Horror anime, scary movies, Halloween, My Chemical Romance… One of my favorite Pokemon is Cubone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  There are so many somber things that I find beauty in. People think I’m weird, but I can’t change who I am. Still, it’s nice to know that there are others who feel the same way.

I found Tokyo Ghoul beautiful in its own way, so I want to *eventually* catch up with it and loads of other creepy anime. Any suggestions? 😛

#8 – Via K-On

Mugi K-On Quotes

I’ve been slowly watching K-On over the past couple of months, so it’s been fresh in my mind. This is the second time Mugi has shown up recently. She’s the greatest.

Anyhow, this quote rings true for me. I’m introverted and don’t make IRL friends easily. And that’s okay. I believe in quality over quantity. I’d rather have a small group of friends I enjoy hanging out with than a large amount of acquaintances who I am not 100% comfortable around. I honestly don’t see my friends very often because we’re all busy adulting. And again, that’s okay in my book.

Not everyone is going to feel this way. Extroverted people might have an easy time making friends and being surrounded by others all the time, which is totally valid. But I’ve come to terms with my own shyness.

What are your thoughts on the quotes I picked? And why is almost every character in this post blonde? xD Until next time~
